HEMA Pittsburgh

Who are we?

Pittsburgh Fighters Guild is a HEMA dedicated sword fighting school located in the Monroeville, PA area. HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) refers to the study and practice of historical European fighting techniques. The manuscripts were rediscovered about 40 years ago. It involves researching and re-enacting traditional martial arts from Europe, focusing on the methods documented in historical manuscripts, fencing manuals, and other sources. HEMA practitioners engage in training and sparring using techniques from medieval and Renaissance martial arts. PFG was founded and created with the intention of fostering a learning environment that focuses on teamwork and learning together. We love to discuss and recreate the technique found in these manuscripts from which we gain our knowledge of these fantastic arts. We believe that anyone can learn how to use these techniques, and with it, gain a deeper understanding and fascination for the people that fought unarmored with sharp blades. Whether you are looking for our kids class or our adult classes, we have multiple time slots available. We are a group of fighters in the HEMA community that want to create a fun , welcoming and safe environment where everyone can come to learn about the history and art of historical sword fighting!
